LoCo Motion Pictures is an independent production company based in Toronto, Ontario. The company produces audience-driven content for all platforms with a focus on digital storytelling and also distributes digital productions. Founded in 2015, LoCo Motion Pictures is headed by producer and entertainment lawyer, Lauren Corber. Lauren is an alumnus of the Canadian Film Centre's Cineplex Entertainment Producers’ Lab, the NSI’s Totally Television Program, the WIFT-T Development Incubator, and the Bell Media Executive Producer Accelerator Lab.
About Me
Lauren Corber is an International Emmy-nominated producer and the founder/president of LoCo Motion Pictures. One of Canada’s leading digital content producers, Lauren has produced several comedy series for CBC including Canadian Screen Award winning, How to Buy a Baby. In partnership with Warner Bros, it has been formatted into a Swedish half-hour series called Alla Utom Vi, available on Discovery+. She also produced two seasons of My 90-Year-Old Roommate starring Paul Soles (Peter Parker/Spider-Man) that has garnered over one million views and is a Webby Awards Honoree. Lauren’s comedy series, The Communist’s Daughter won the 2021 Web Series World Cup and was nominated for six Canadian Screen Awards and her series I Hate People, People Hate Me premiered at Tribeca in 2023 and was nominated for four Canadian Screen Awards.
LoCo expanded into the youth market with Kidscreen Award-winning tween action/adventure series Detention Adventure (CBC Gem) which is now in its third season. The series has over 85,000 TikTok followers and is licensed in more than 125 territories including the US (HBO Max), the UK (ITV) and Australia (ABC). Detention Adventure won Best Youth Series at the 2023 Canadian Screen Awards and received 15 nominations.
Lauren is currently launching her latest comedy series, My Dead Mom, on Crave starring Lauren Collins (Degrassi: The Next Generation, Slip) and Megan Follows (Anne of Green Gables, Reign).
A recovering entertainment lawyer, Lauren is on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Media Producers Association and an alumnus of the CFC Producers’ Lab, National Screen Institute and Bell Media Executive Producer Accelerator Lab. She has been a panelist at several events including Prime Time, All Access, Transmedia Zone’s Web Series Power Up and the Toronto Screenwriting Conference to lend her unique expertise on producing in the digital space. Lauren is currently participating in the 2024 BANFF Spark Accelerator Program.
